Tax Stimulus Rebate Check Can Give a Kitchen a Whole New Look

Thanks to Uncle Sam, kitchen and bath experts Jack Kellerman and Scott Raposo of CaveSTER.com have some good news. For what the average taxpaying family is receiving in their tax rebate check, a kitchen can receive a whole, new look. Most people do not realize that just making a few changes, such as a new faucet and sink, can give an old stale kitchen, a bright new look and increase the value of your home.

“The faucet and sink are often times the focal point of the kitchen and people don’t realize how much an old, unattractive faucet or sink affects the entire kitchen,” says Kellerman, owner of CaveSTER.com. A few of the trends in kitchen design are extra deep sinks, pull-out spray faucet, and having a pot filler installed above the cook top. Pot Fillers offer an excellent way to add value to the kitchen for only a few hundred dollars. Many of the sinks are available with accessories such as custom fitted colanders, sink racks, and rinse baskets. Many faucet and sink brands are manufactured in America, such as Elkay, which is an added bonus for you and the economy. Not only will you be getting a new look for your kitchen, but you will also be helping to stimulate the American economy. Kellerman adds, “For what most families are receiving in their economic stimulus checks, you can replace your sink, faucet, and have money left over to change out their kitchen lighting.”

Lighting is something that is often overlooked in kitchen remodeling. “I can’t stress how important it is to have your kitchen properly lit,” says Raposo, chief designer for CaveSTER.com. “Why would someone spend money on their kitchen and not have the island lights, pendants, and chandeliers to show it off?” Raposo recommends going with brands such as World Imports Lighting, that offer complete collections of matching styles of lights. “It’s important to have matching lights - it helps unify the entire kitchen,” says Raposo.

Another aspect that people often forget about is their cabinet hardware. Hardware is considered the “jewelry” of the kitchen cabinets. Changing the hardware can give the cabinets a complete new look. This can be accomplished for under three hundred dollars with brands such as Top Knobs and Rusticware. “People often change out their hardware, then tell us that their neighbors and friends comment on what a big impact it has on the overall feel of the kitchen. It’s a great, inexpensive way to give your kitchen an updated style,” states Kellerman.

A few small changes can add up to a whole new look. With a complete kitchen remodel costing tens of thousands of dollars, replacing just a few items is a really attractive alternative. Raposo stresses, “Don’t underestimate what a few changes can do for the value and look of your kitchen.” Since the kitchen is often the heart of the home, take that tax rebate check and spend it wisely. Not only will you enjoy the new look of your kitchen on a daily basis, but you will also be increasing the value of your home. That is a really good investment!
